Today was the big guy's birthday. My better half completed another lap around the sun and he celebrated it as one should celebrate their birthday...doing the things they love. He cached this morning, hung out with friends and played on his computer this afternoon, and spent the evening with family.
Our oldest drove over from Biloxi to join us for dinner at the Five Sisters Blues Cafe. It was the birthday boy's choice and it hasn't failed to impress everyone we've ever taken there. We can add Brad's name to that list now too as he gleefully taunted his uncle, aunt and cousin in Missouri about his menu selection. They had all enjoyed it when they visited last fall and were wishing they could join us. And we wished that too. The food isn't fancy but it's good.
Cellphone cameras + dim restaurant lights ≠ a good picture but it's still a treasure for the memory it represents. We're so enjoying having Brad close enough that he can buzz over for dinners like this and it's clear he's enjoying that too. And that fudgy chocolate cake with the generous blobs of whipped cream and chocolate syrup was pretty enjoyable too.
Life is good...and it's nice to have a reason to celebrate that.
