The lemon tree (which seems to be making a nice comeback from a case of scale) gets a change of scenery during the winter months. Not only does it move from inside the screened enclosure in the back to the driveway but it comes in and out of the garage some nights. Like me, it doesn't like cold weather so when the temps drop down in the mid to low 30's, in it comes. And when the sun warms things up in the morning, back out it goes.
It was down to freezing last night so the lemon spent the night in the garage but it warmed up nicely today. As darkness approached, I went online to see what low was predicted for tonight. My go-to source for weather information is Weather Underground because I can see the conditions right here in Pace. We're far enough inland that the temperatures can vary several degrees from those forecast for Pensacola so I like seeing the forecast for my own backyard.
Weather Underground showed a low of 55 degrees but I was skeptical...the current temperature was shown as 57 degrees and we had twelve hours of darkness ahead. Was it really only going to drop two degrees? So I looked at the weather data on my AT&T home page. It's for the next town over but since it's not that far, it should work. The 37 degrees shown there seemed reasonable, given last night's temps and the current conditions, and I promptly pulled the tree inside. It was a marginal forecast...the tree probably would have been fine out there at that temperature but I don't want to lose it now.
What puzzled me though is how can two weather forecasts for the same time and area vary by twenty degrees? Sometimes I think weather forecasting is done by throwing darts at a board or using a Ouiga board.
When I watched the news on television tonight, the weatherman there predicted a low of 55. Two out of three now...the tree went back outside.
Yeah! Just be positive and have a good outlook on life.
It gets better and better all the time!
