Remember when I had a heart-to-heart talk with the tall and lacy plants in my flower bed in this post? Well, it wasn't quite as friendly as a heart-to-heart talk; it was more a do-it-or-else warning. As in bloom or I'll yank you out of the ground.
And it worked!
They're pretty, too...deep red, almost burgundy with a bright yellow center. The plants themselves are thin and tall so the flowers bob around in the breezes we've been having. There are blooms or buds on four or five of the plants, including the really tall one which must exceed six feet now. I'll never see the flowers at the top of that one...except from the underside! I'd rather it wasn't quite so tall but it's so lacy that you can see right through it.
Now that we have blooms, I can figure out what they are...cosmos. And since they survived last winter, I guess that means they'll be in my garden for a while. That's OK; now that my threats have worked, they can stay.
Pretty flowers and a great photo. I have a sign that says "Your Last Chance To Bloom" and I have in sitting with a clematis that has not bloomed in 5 years, obviously the shame sign has not worked. I am going out this morning to give it your style of pep talk. (lol)
