No, really...shut the front door; it's cold out there! It was 84 degrees yesterday afternoon when I walked. Today...? A chilly 59. I missed every one of those 25 degrees. Well, I could have done without five of them but I wasn't mentally prepared for such a drop, especially since the weather man had promised predicted 75. Throw in an overcast sky and a gusty wind from the north and I was left wishing I'd picked a heavier sweatshirt when I walked out the door. Bonnie and I agreed we might have made our round of the neighborhood in record time just trying to generate a little body heat.
I shouldn't complain...it could be worse. Family in Kansas is facing a hard freeze tonight and friends and family in the Northeast are bracing for Frankenstorm. Besides, if I start complaining about the cold in October, it's going to be a very long winter.
I plan to hold the weatherman to his forecast that mid-70's will be back before the end of the week because really, I don't want those doors shut. I was hoping for more days when I could throw them wide open. After all, it's still October.
Ahh, we are not much colder than you, with 52 degrees, but the wind and rain make it feel worse. And this is only the beginning. Only time will tell what we will endure. It is our turn to wait and see!
