No tricks for me; I was on the receiving end of the treats...an evening out for just the two of us tonight.
We haven't been having very many kids going door to door in the last few years. Part of it is there are kids at the far ends of the cul-de-sac but not many right around here. And the house next door is still in foreclosure and vacant and the one across the street is empty too, although new people are supposed to be moving in soon. Add in the fact that there's a huge Halloween celebration just a few blocks over, complete with haunted houses, so what kids there are around here trek over there. Bottom line, there didn't seem to be a compelling reason to stay home.
So we didn't. Off to one of our favorite restaurants we went for some delicious Mexican food. We didn't have the most efficient waitress but it didn't matter...we were out to relax. So what if it took a little longer than usual; the food was worth the wait when it arrived. And after several chilly nights, we were appreciating tonight's milder temperatures so we headed downtown to see if there was anything going on we could walk around and take in. That didn't pan out; we're too old for the bar scene but it was a nice ride anyway. We hit the bookstore on the way home for a little browsing then called it a night, arriving home with enough time to watch Survivor on the DVR before my date turned into a pumpkin.
We both agreed we need to do this more often. It's not that we don't ever eat out because we certainly do but to plan ahead and it be just the two of us took the experience to a different level. A date night. We'll be doing this again.
Awww so sweet. Hubby and I need to do this more often, ESP now that I'm working too. Thanks for th e reminder.
