Around here there's some scrapbooking of old pictures going on. Well, there was on Friday night anyway. When Wayne headed off to a high school football game with the guys, I packed up my stuff and went the opposite direction to the scrapbook store across town. It was fun to catch up with some of the gals who were crop regulars when we had our store. It felt like old times sharing stories and laughs; I need to do it again. Who knows when this layout will get finished, given the busy time of year, but it's off to a good start.
Around here the usual Monday clean-up was tossed aside and I made a mess instead. That mess was, however, progress as the tree is up and fully decorated. I love all my Christmas stuff and the memories of people and places that surface as I put them out and enjoy them but it doesn't take long before all that extra stuff begins to feel like clutter. I'd go crazy if I decorated right after Thanksgiving so Kayla's birthday is like the green light for getting the ornaments down. Now if I can plow through the rest of the boxes tomorrow, I can cross that job off the holiday list.
Around here we're two-for-two in the new recipes tried and enjoyed category this week. Last night's fare was P. F. Chang's Lettuce Wraps which was much better looking than the poor lighting from the overhead light makes them look. We both loved them and I see them being a regular part of our dinner rotation from now on. I used this recipe but based on the comments I increased the hoisin sauce and soy sauce...yum-o! Tonight we had this recipe for Santa Fe Chicken from the crock pot. We did it in a tortilla burrito-style rather than over rice and it was both tasty and easy. Again, it helps to read the comments as the beans need to be drained and after many complained about too much liquid, I cut the chicken stock in half. It was just right but I kept a close eye on it in case I needed to add more.
Around here cold weather is returning. I haven't been among those complaining about 75-degree days; who needs cold weather to make it feel like Christmas, I say. If I could figure out a way to hold onto those warmer temperatures, I would but since I can't, I guess I'll be breaking out the sweatshirts again.
Around here life is good.
I simply must know what you used for the chevron/ric rac on that scrapbooking page. I absolutely love it! It looks like some sort of die was used to cut the pattern. Adorable!
