I'm a glass-half-full kinda gal. Call me Pollyanna if you will but I subscribe to the theory that you should believe the best until life proves otherwise. Having said that, however, I'm also a realist. There are times/situations that no amount of optimism can cure.
Like today's weather forecast...100% chance of rain. There wasn't much likelihood the weatherman was going to be wrong either; those red and yellow blobs on the radar weren't going to disapppear into thin air. We were gonna get rain and we did, over 3" worth. It's 100% again tonight and 90% tomorrow too so more is still to come.
With all that rain headed our way, I made plans to stay inside. It was a great day to climb around in the family tree and look at all that moisture through the window. I did manage an escape during some of the lighter showers to get my miles in at the gym but basically I stayed put. It seemed like the sensible thing to do.
So you can imagine my surprise when I looked outside at one point to see this:
Yep, golfers on the green. The picture doesn't do a very good job of showing just how hard it was raining at the time but it was a pretty good downpour. You can almost make out the puddles of standing water on the green they had just finished putting through. It couldn't have been much fun but maybe it was better than the alternative, which might have been staying at work.
I've heard jokes about what optimists golfers are; I'd say these guys were super-optimists. And very wet ones at that.
