We turn the usual Tuesday night routine on its ear tonight and spent the evening at the baseball stadium with our friends Hiram and Bonnie. My cellphone isn't the best tool for sports action but it does convey a sense of tonight's experience.
The local team hasn't had a great season so far, finding it hard to get runs across the plate, so we weren't expecting a lot. We did, however, see just about everything...a couple of home runs, a balk, some difficult double-plays and a few examples of stellar fielding. There was plenty of action to keep the game from getting boring, especially along the third base side where we were sitting. Best of all, the home team managed a 7-3 victory.
It's such a pretty setting for the stadium with Pensacola Bay just beyond the outfield and we couldn't have asked for better weather. We credited Hiram with the later; he carried umbrellas...a sure sign the weather would clear up and it did. Add in a gentle sea breeze and it was the perfect night for a ball game. Perfect company too with our good friends.
There were no peanuts or crackerjacks consumed by our crew but it was fun to root on the home team.
