We're in Kansas. It's a quick trip but still an opportunity to connect again with family and friends. The days here are full and go by too fast but we'll pack as much in as we can to last until the next trip.
One of my pre-trip rituals is to check Weather Underground to get the weather forecast so I'll know what to pack. It wasn't a bad one when I checked...some days on the 50's and 60's; some nights in the 30's and 40's. Not bad for November; I can live with that. Jeans and some shirts/sweaters/sweatshirts I can layer will do just fine.
As we were sitting in the restaurant having dinner with my brother John and his wife Barbara, I caught sight of the weather forecast on a nearby television. There in a large graphic was the bad news. Tuesday's high will now be only 40 degrees and the low will be down near 20! Yikes! I might need to wear everything I brought to have enough layers!
Obviously, Mother Nature is sending me a reminder: Like Dorothy, I'm not in Kansas anymore. We'll, in terms of where I live anyway. This Southern girl will need to endure these tumbling temperatures for a day or two before she can take her chilly bones back to the warmer climate I enjoy. I hear you, Mother. I hear you.
