We had the pleasure of entertaining Miss Kayla last weekend. And while she stayed at Brad's house this year, it was still the fulfillment of a summer tradition.
She didn't come alone; three college friends joined her for the trip south. I think she must have been a very organized tour guide as they did plenty of her favorite things...things that are almost as much of a tradition as the trip herself. They went to the zoo in Gulf Shores to play with the lemurs, caught a few rolls thrown at them at Lambert's in Foley (and ate plenty of country cooking too), watched dolphins play in the Gulf on a local charter, and spent time on the white sands of Pensacola Beach.
As great as that last one is, the real attraction might have been these:
Wayne grilled steaks. Well, Wayne grills steak for Kayla on every visit, much to her delight. The girl loves her steak and she put away one of these big ol' babies all by herself. Plus all the fixings that went with it. I'll admit...they were good.
Here's Brad and his bevy of beautiful house guests. It was fun to share a little of their trip with them and see the interaction among these friends. Kayla is normally quite chatty when she's here but with all the other female voices going, we didn't hear as much from her as usual. Brad said his house was unbelievably quiet after they all departed.
By all accounts they had a good time. Enough so they were all promising to come back next summer, with or without Kayla. We, of course, prefer the former but it's a nice endorsement on our hospitality. In fact, who says they have to wait until summer?
What lovely houseguests and my hubby is quite envious of Wayne's steak - what's his secret?
